Be Our Guest Restaurant Disney World Review

Be Our Guest Restaurant

The atmosphere and the decor of the Be Our Guest Restaurant in Magic Kingdom is something out of a dream. Or, more accurately, something out of a movie. As the Beauty and the Beast Restaurant at Disney World, stepping into Be Our Guest is nothing short of magical. But, with the changes to the Be Our Guest Menu, the exorbitant Prix Fixe Dinner Cost, and intermittently available Beast, does this restaurant live up to the hype? Let’s dive into the Be Our Guest Menu, Atmosphere, and Cost so you can make the best choice for your next Disney trip.

Location

The Walt Disney World Be Our Guest Restaurant is located at the back of Magic Kingdom Park in Fantasyland, just past Belle’s cottage. When arriving you will check in at the outdoor stone podium at the front of the walkway to the castle. If you have a preference on which room you would like to be seated in you MUST tell the host after you check in. While seating locations can be requested, they aren’t guaranteed. Afterward, you will have to cross over a stone bridge to get to the main entry doors. Here is where you will wait to be ushered into the castle.

How Long Does Dinner at Be Our Guest Take?

This 3-course meal at Be Our Guest is Prix Fixe dining and takes about 1 hour and 15 minutes… though plan on an hour and a half from arrival to departure. And if you’re ordering specialty drinks, and plan to sip and savor, then plan longer.

Be Our Guest Restaurant Dress Code

Is there a dress code at Be Our Guest at Disney World? No! There is no dress code for Be Our Guest Restaurant. As long as your attire falls within regular theme park guidelines, you’re welcome to dine casually.

Be Our Guest Reservations

If you’re planning on dining at Be Our Guest, it’s best to plan ahead and get a reservation. While the Be Our Guest reservations are no longer difficult to get, if you know you want to eat here, might as well add your name to the list!

Are Be Our Guest Reservations Hard to Get?

No. Not anymore. The recent price hike of close to $72 a plate for small portions, a Prix Fixe-only menu, and the absence of breakfast and a quick service lunch no longer make this one of the hotspots at Magic Kingdom. Instead, this is more of a “do it once” restaurant for many Disney Adults and families. As such, on our last few vacations, we’ve seen people just walk up to request a table. While we always recommend reservations for planning ease, be sure to stop by the host station if you’re looking for something last minute.

Do You need a Park Ticket to eat at Be Our Guest?

YES! Disney’s Be Our Guest Restaurant is located inside the Magic Kingdom. So, you must have a Disney Park Ticket to Magic Kingdom to eat here.

Can You Go to Be Our Guest Without a Park Ticket?

No. Unfortunately, you will need a valid Park Ticket for Magic Kingdom on the day you plan to visit.

Be Our Guest Atmosphere and Theme

Perfect for Beauty and the Beast fans, the castle atmosphere is why people come here. Featuring 3 separately themed rooms, you can pick one that matches your mood. From the tapestries to the armory to the stained glass window featuring Belle and Beast. With three separate Dining Rooms and themes you know and love from the movie, here is everything that makes Be Our Guest one of the prettiest restaurants at Walt Disney World. These spaces are filled with tables and booths, each offering a different atmosphere while you dine. The three dining rooms at Be Our Guest include the ballroom, the library, and the west wing. Where you want to sit at Be Our Guest really all comes down to preference; Light and Bright, Cold and Dark, or Candle Lit.

The West Wing is a bit darker just like the Beast’s forbidden wing in the castle. We love the West Wing on hot Florida days because, between the air conditioning and the darkness, it just feels like a nice break from the crazy heat. The Ballroom offers views of falling snow from the windows and gorgeous chandeliers and is probably our favorite place to eat near the tall windows. And The Library features a beautiful life-size Belle and Beast music box. The Library is the place you will find the most bench and booth seating.  In truth, it’s the atmosphere here that really sells this experience for us.

During dinner, the lighting in the entire restaurant does get a bit dimmer, and it feels more regal. People can say whatever they want to about the price, the quality, etc. about Be Our Guest, but there is no other Disney-themed restaurant that can match the cinematic accuracy of this restaurant.

The Beast’s West Wing

The Beast’s West Wing is a cold, dark, cave-like space. If it’s been a hot day, you have a headache and can’t really deal with the bright lights, or have a smaller travel party then you should find a table in the Beast’s West Wing to be delightful. This room features torn curtains and the Beast’s Rose covered in glass. Don’t miss the portrait of the Prince, prior to his Beast transformation. This room of the Disney World Be Our Guest restaurant is by far the most creatively decorated. Keep in mind this dining room may be a little scary for the little ones. It is, however, perfect for a calming meal. While we don’t mind this, know that the West Wing is dark, and by dark, we mean that it’s sometimes hard to see the food. While the light levels have been different every time we’ve gone, be aware that your eyes will be doing some refocusing when you enter this darkness.

The Beauty and the Beast Ballroom

Okay, let’s be clear here the reason you get a table in the ballroom is to see the Beast alight from the top balcony at Dinner. This rarely happens during our meals, but that’s why people eat here. The Beast does, however, make the rounds at Dinner at Be Our Guest. And can pause at your table for a quick photo if desired. These aren’t hug-crushing moments or about filling your autograph book with signatures, because this isn’t character dining. So the Beast just strolls around the place. Don’t be misled, the Beast does visit each room at dinnertime, so that’s not really the reason you eat in the ballroom. The real reason to eat in the ballroom is the glamour!

For many, the cafeteria-like seating in the ballroom leaves something to be desired. Unlike Belle’s library, there are no booth tables here. Which makes it a bit difficult for families with little ones. Our favorite part of the Ballroom experience is to get a table at the back of the room by the ceiling-high glass windows. Why? Because apart from it being the most peaceful place in the whole ballroom, you can also see snow falling outside the windows! It’s also the location of the Beauty and the Beast-themed Christmas Tree during the holidays. We also like this table location by the windows because it gives you a great view of the balcony. And a great backdrop for pictures. If you choose to request the ballroom, we recommend also requesting a table by the windows.

Belle’s Library

Of all the dining rooms in the Be Our Guest Restaurant, Belle’s Library is the coziest. It has a Belle and Beast sculpture in music box fashion slowly spinning around in the center of the room. And there are tapestries and paintings on the walls for an easy vibe. This room is light and happy. It is also the only room with booth seating at Be Our Guest. So that’s something to keep in mind if you have children or a big family to seat.

Be our guest Menu at Disney

Be Our Guest Menu

This Be Our Guest Dinner Menu is now a Prix Fixe Style, which means each guest gets one appetizer, one entrée, and one dessert for a fixed price. Made up of 3 courses, you can also get 1- regular, non-specialty, non-alcoholic drink. Alcoholic Drinks and Wines are extra.

The Be Our Guest Lunch Menu is the same as dinner, including the same foods in a 3-course meal and for the same cost. Lunch and Dinner at Be Our Guest Cost $72 per adult ( plus tax and gratuity) and $43 per child ( plus tax and gratuity). Note that the cost for the children’s menu is for children 3-9 years of age.

Appetizers First Course

As you can see the appetizers shared here are French cuisine and could be an acquired taste for some. If you like French onion soup, we think this is one of the better choices on the appetizer menu. We like the potato leek soup as a decent vegetarian option here but didn’t really have the palate for the other items in this lineup.

  • French Onion Soup: Au Gratin with Gruyère
  • Mixed Greens Salad: Goat Cheese Mousse and Roasted Tomato Vinaigrette Dressing
  • Tuna Tartare: Dijonnaise, Chopped Egg, and Black Olive Oil
  • Escargot de Bourgogne: Baked in Garlic-Herb Butter with Baguette
  • Sweet Corn Bisque: Corn Madeleine, Tomato, and Chive (Plant-based)
Grilled Filet Mignon: Smashed Potatoes, Haricots Verts, and Sauce au PoivrePin this image on Pinterest

Entree Second Course

Honoring all things French, the entrees at Be Our Guest include regional specialties from the French countryside. The best thing on this menu is the Center-cut Filet Mignon, in terms of value. And while the portion sizes are appropriate, by Disney standards, we’d say they’re actually a bit small. So if you’re looking for value in a meal, dinner at Be Our Guest may not be the place. The other entrees on this list are adequate and rich but charging $72 for eggplant as the vegetarian and vegan option here, leaves something to be desired.

  • Short Rib Beef Bourguignon: Smoked Bacon, Potatoes, and Red Wine Jus
  • Trout Amandine: Crab, Smoked Almonds, and Haricots Verts
  • Charred Eggplant: Celery Root Purée, Wild Mushrooms, Black Garlic-Red Wine Bordelaise (Plant-based)
  • Grilled Filet Mignon: Smashed Potatoes, Haricots Verts, and Sauce au Poivre
  • Roasted Poulet Rouge Chicken: Asparagus, Petit Potato, Watercress, and Whole-Grain Mustard Sauce
  • Dry-aged Duroc Pork Chop: Potatoes, Stewed Pepper Piperade, and Sauce Verte

Desserts Third Course

Fortunately, the desserts at Be Our Guest are included in the Prix Fixe price, but unfortunately, there are only a few to choose from. By far our favorite part of every meal, dessert is the same for everyone.

  • Dessert Trio: Chocolate Tart | Dark Chocolate Truffle | Lemon Jam Macaron
  • Vanilla Cake with Lemon Curd with Fresh Berries and Strawberry Meringue (Plant-based option available on request in place of the Dessert Trio Platter)

Let us just say that dessert at Be Our Guest Restaurant is one of the most disappointing things ever. Don’t get us wrong, the grey stuff is delicious, but it felt like a very mediocre way to end this meal. And for as many times as they’ve changed the desserts, we’d hope they have it right by now. The portions you see here are tiny and we’ve had better treats at Les Halles Boulangerie Patisserie in EPCOT France for less than $6. Definitely not the showstopper dessert we would have expected to top this kind of meal. And at this price point felt basic.

Be Our Guest Kid’s Menu

The Be Our Guest Kid’s Menu is for children 3-9 years of age and includes a “create your own” option featuring 1 appetizer, 1 entree, 2 sides, and a dessert. The kid’s menu includes beef, chicken, or mac and cheese along with kid-friendly appetizers, sides, and the dessert trio.

Appetizers

  • Iceberg Wedge Salad with Ranch Dressing
  • Fresh Fruit Bowl
  • Fruit and Cheese Plate

Entrees

  • Grilled Steak
  • House-made Macaroni & Cheese
  • Pan-seared Chicken Breast
  • Pan Seared Shrimp
  • Chicken Strips

Sides

  • Sautéed Sqaush
  • French Fries
  • Steamed Green Beans
  • Brown Rice
  • Sweet Potatoes

Desserts

  • Fresh Fruit with Honey Yogurt Dip
  • Dessert Trio

Signature Drinks ( Costs Extra $15- $20 each)

  • Blue Raspberry Slush Served with Candy Fish and a souvenir Glow Cube
  • Pomegranate Limeade: Pomegranate Juice and Limeade served in an Enchanted Light-up souvenir cup
  • Minute Maid® Premium Lemonade Served in an Enchanted Light-up souvenir cup

The Grey Stuff at Be Our Guest

The Grey Stuff at Be Our Guest Restaurant can be found in the chocolate tart as part of your Dessert Trio. In the olden days, the Grey Stuff was also served as part of a Chip cupcake cup and was much more substantial. Luckily, you can also find the Grey Stuff at Gaston’s Tavern, in the Beauty and the Beast area of the park for $6. Thank Goodness!

Are Drinks Included at Be Our Guest?

Yes. One non-alcoholic drink is included with Lunch and Dinner at Be Our Guest. This includes water, tea, coffee, and Coca-Cola products. Specialty drinks and Alcoholic beverages are extra.

Are Lunch and Dinner the Same at Be Our Guest?

Yes. At present, the Lunch and Dinner at Disney Be Our Guest Restaurant are the same price.

Is Dessert Included at Be Our Guest?

Yes, the dessert at Be Our Guest is the same for everyone, a Trio of Desserts. There is a Lemon Jam Macaron, a Chocolate Tart with Grey Stuff, A Dark Chocolate Truffle, and a Vanilla Cake with Lemon Curd for the plant-based option.

Be Our Guest Characters

Unlike Character Restaurants at Walt Disney World, Be Our Guest, does include a character but is not considered character dining. As regular character dining restaurants include photos, autograph books, and an intentional stop at every table in the restaurant Be Our Guest does not offer this kind of experience. Additionally, you can only see the Beast at Be Our Guest at dinner, not lunch.

Can you meet The Beast at Be Our Guest?

Not really. Let’s say it’s more like you get to wave to the Beast as he passes your table, sometimes. If he’s around, because lately he hasn’t been. He is, however, only seen during Dinner when he is available. And typically only to walk by and thank you for joining him. While not typical, he does sometimes pause for photos at tables on occasion as well. This is the only meal where you can currently see the Beast; so if that’s a priority for you, you’ll want to snag a reservation for this dinner.

Can You Meet Belle at Be Our Guest?

No. You cannot meet Belle at Be Our Guest Restaurant. If you are looking for Belle Meet and Greets at Walt Disney World, you can find her in EPCOT’s World Showcase France, at Akershus Restaurant in EPCOT Norway, at Cinderella’s Royal Table in Magic Kingdom, and at Enchanted Tales with Belle in Magic Kingdom.

Be Our Guest Cost

Let us just say that as Be Our Guest diners since the restaurant opened we’ve seen it go through some changes. Unfortunately, all of them have been bad. And the Prix Fixe Menu here is no exception. For a cost of $72 per adult ( plus tax and gratuity) and $43 per child ( plus tax and gratuity), we just expect more. We expect better appetizers, entrees, and desserts. We expect a thoughtful plant-based option that includes protein and not just spiced vegetables. If we can jump on the “good ol’ days” soapbox, we expect a Be Our Guest breakfast filled with hearty breakfasts, and pastries, and a quick-service lunch filled with robust turkey sandwiches, quinoa, and stew. These were available when the restaurant opened and we’ve been mourning them ever since.

Is Be Our Guest included in the Disney Dining Plan?

Yes. A meal at Be Our Guest for Lunch or Dinner will cost 2 Table Service Credits on the Dining Plan. We don’t, however, recommend using your Disney Dining Planning Credits here. As a reminder a 1-Table Service Credit typically includes a full meal, with a drink and dessert at a variety of Disney Restaurants. At Be Our Guest you have to spend 2 of these credits to eat dinner. The monetary equivalent of 1 credit is typically about $60.

How Many Table Service Credits is Be Our Guest on the Dining Plan?

On the Disney Dining Plan, Be Our Guest is 2 Table Service Credits. As such, it’s the equivalent of using 2 dinners in one go. This is due to the exorbitant signature dining cost. Since we don’t think this restaurant is really even worth the 1 dining credit, we’d definitely recommend against using 2 for this meal.

Does Be Our Guest Have Discounts?

Disney World Annual Passholders receive 10% off at Be Our Guest.

Is Dinner at Be Our Guest worth it?

For us, Be Our Guest is No Longer Worth it. Seeing the pretty atmosphere and decor is a must, but actually eating there, leaves so much to be desired. If choosing to dine at Be Our Guest, we recommend using your $72 per adult and $43 per child wisely. Much like we discovered at Cinderella’s Royal Table when they charge you the same high price no matter what you choose, get the steak, not the salad.

Be Our Guest doesn’t offer the experience, menu options, or food quality that justifies the high price here. This is, of course, just our opinion. This restaurant used to be a staple on our Disney Vacations. Still, it literally just feels like we’re wasting money on subpar food when we eat here now. And we’ve given it many chances to prove us wrong. We’ve been through probably 5 versions of the vegetarian options at this from the 6 pieces of tortellini to the quinoa, cauliflower, squash, and now eggplant.

Also, keep in mind that Be Our Guest is a French restaurant. So, if you don’t like French food, you most likely won’t enjoy dinner here. From Escargot to French Onion Soup, the appetizer course will make this pretty clear from the start. Some of the appetizers are a bit more adventurous, so picky palates may have a hard time finding something they like. With a Prix Fixe Menu, there are limited choices all around. Check out the selections available on the Be our Guest Dinner Menu.

Be Our Guest Review

So what is the final verdict on dinner at Be Our Guest? Dinner at Be Our Guest is pricey and lackluster. But, if you really just want to satisfy your inner child and dine in the Beast’s castle, then more power to you! Just keep in mind that part of what you are paying for is the experience to dine in this beautiful space. Don’t expect the food to align with the cost. Because in our experience, it doesn’t. The menu has changed about 4 or 5 times now, and not one of them have held a candle to the opening day menu we enjoyed.

Hopefully, this has helped you decide if you’re going to use your precious Magic Kingdom park time at this restaurant.  While the Be Our Guest Restaurant Reservations are no longer hard to get, due to the menu changes, if you’re planning to dine there, we recommend you get a reservation.
